01

Project search

Find files and relevant text in an allowed directory without manually copying the whole project into chat.

02

Task-focused reads

Start with the directory structure, then select specific files for analysis.

03

Controlled changes

Add write access only after reviewing the task and change plan.

Get started

  1. Select a working folder

Add the project directory in local settings. Keep the first connection read-only.

  2. Find relevant data

Ask the AI to show the structure, find a file by name or search the project text.

  3. Review the result

For edits, enable writes in the selected folder and ask which files changed.

Example task

A prompt for your AI
On Work PC, find TODOs in the allowed project, group them by file and propose an execution order.

Permissions

Reads and writes are checked against local roots. Deletion is separate. Enabling the shell grants OS user capabilities beyond file-tool roots.

Details

Less irrelevant context

Specify the directory and file types. For large projects, ask for a structure map and relevant file list first.

Data in the AI client

Read results reach the selected AI service. Allow folders containing data suitable for that task.

Frequently asked questions

Are writes required?

No. Search, reads and analysis work with read-only access.

What happens when I remove a folder from access?

Subsequent file requests to that folder are denied. The files remain on the device.

Can I select multiple folders?

Yes. Add the required directories separately and review write permissions for each.
